Having a great time – wish you were here!

Yes, we’re having a lovely break in the sunshine and warmth of the Middle East.  Not a miserable rainy day in site – unlike Blighty!

Qatar is a fascinating country. Not as developed as some of the other Middle Eastern countries, development appears to be better controlled.  There are many large western Shopping Centres, you can buy whatever you want.  Here is some info which I found interesting on the new airport which is being built outside Doha, the capital city.

A new airport, the New Doha International Airport (NDIA) is being built 4km from the existing airport and is being built in resonse to the expected growth in passengerdemand.  At the moment over 4 million passengers pass through Doha airport – this will grow to 15 million after the first phase is completed later this year.  Eventually, Doha airport will handle 50 million passengers a year!  Incredible figure, but don’t panic, alot of these are passengers connecting with the Asian and Austrasian long-haul flights.

I certainly hope Doha is not inundated with 50 million more tourists a year – it sounds too awful for words!  Anyway, after that little snippet of information, I will say bye for now and get back to holidaying.

Best wishes from relaxed holiday makers
